Typical Day

Work Day

You’ll head out in a team of 8-10 students to your work project about 8:30am. When you arrive at your work site you will have the opportunity to meet your resident and hear a little bit about his or her family, story and life. After a few minutes to get acquainted, it’s time to work! Your work project will consist of heavy home repair, remodeling, or new construction. Around noon don’t be surprised if your resident blesses you with a homemade local meal. If not, grab a quick PB&J and relax for a few minutes while your team dives into their lunch devotion. After lunch devos, back to work until site clean up around 4pm. Since day one, Next Step has been focused on providing challenging work projects that really make a difference. You won’t find yourself doing much painting or yard work, you will be challenged to make a big difference in the life of a resident with a substantial work project.

Worship Night

After dinner, be ready to rock and roll with your Next Step Band and worship team. As much as our work projects mean to us, worship is the number one reason we lead mission trips. We put our heart and soul into developing a great band and worship team for you to praise and worship our God with. Worship will start out with some wild games, then head inside to rock out with our full band for a few worship songs. You will break into your work teams to share how you saw God during the day and then dive into a comfortable but intentional message series focused on how to love and serve like Christ. We will lead a couple experiential activities throughout the week such as a foot washing and a final night prayer activity. Each night will close out with a few more worship songs and small group time for your individual church.
