Are You Running the Race?
Phillipians 3:12
"Not that I have already reached the goal or am already fully mature, but I make every effort to take hold of it because I also have been taken hold of by Christ Jesus. Brothers, I do not consider myself to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: forgetting what is behind and reaching forward to what is ahead. I pursue as my goal the prize promised by God’s heavenly call in Christ Jesus. Therefore, all who are mature should think this way."
In the book of Philippians Paul offers words of wisdom on how to live the Christian life heartily. He instructs us that because we have been taken hold of by Christ we must press on towards the Heavenly goal! Forget your old life, don’t worry about worldly things. Rather, keep on making every effort to reach the prize in Heaven.
Reflection
1. What is Paul telling us when says that he forgets what is behind and reaches towards what is ahead?
2. Why does Paul make every effort to take hold of the heavenly prize in Phil. 3:12?
3. What are some actions you can take to push further ahead towards the prize?
