Rejoice and Be Glad

Matthew 5:12

"Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you."

As Jesus wraps up the Beatitudes He encourages us to rejoice! He assures us that being a follower of Christ is not easy, but the rewards in life everlasting with our Heavenly Father greatly out weigh the persecutions and hardships of this world. For real joy, is in heaven with our Maker and there will be a day where there are no more tears. There will be a day where there are no more troubles and challenges. As Christians, when we believe that Christ died for our sins and that there is eternal life in Heaven, we can let go of the hardships of this world. We can be happy and hopeful that the rewards will be great!

When Jesus lived his life on earth, he faced many hardships and persecutions. Yet in light of everything, Jesus rejoiced knowing His reward was in Heaven.
