Desiring God’s Voice

Week 12 Day 5

But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.
Psalm 1:2

What happens when you really believe, that what you believe, is really real? Take a look at that again. What happens when you really believe that what you believe is really real? When we think about our savior making the ultimate sacrifice for us, or an all powerful and loving God as really real; when we take the time to acknowledge and meditate on that, the thing that changes the most is our desire, our desire to live for him.

We mentioned David yesterday as an awesome doer, but that sparked from his desire. He always wanted to know God more, be used more, and hear God’s call. We often think that only certain important people can hear God’s voice or God’s call. But God desires a relationship with each and every one of us, and hearing that voice results from returning that desire. When we begin to put God first, and we want to be used God will speak to all of us, we just need to listen. We may need to look for him in new ways, talk to new people and dive into new parts of scripture, but when we knock on the door, it will be answered.

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
Matthew 7:7

Reflection Questions

1. David was called a “man after God’s own heart.” What do you think that means?
2. Do you feel you desire God to be part of your life? Do you desire God’s voice and call in your life?
3. What are some things you can do to obtain or maintain that desire?

Take the Next Step

The world needs more passionate people. God needs more passionate people. People that desire to love the way he taught us. To do this we need to put ourselves aside and listen to God. Meditate on his word. Do more than just go through the motions of learning, reading and serving but passionately wanting to be a disciple of Christ. Take the time to stop and hear God’s voice, desire that and the rest falls into place.
