Practice of Prayer
Week 13 Day 2
1One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples."
Luke 11:1
Prayer, talking with God, what an amazing thing in itself. When we look at Jesus we can truly see the power, importance and crucial part of our faith it is. This verse in Luke come right before the Lord Prayer.
2He said to them, "When you pray, say:
" 'Father,[a]
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come.[b]
3Give us each day our daily bread.
4Forgive us our sins,
for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.[c]
And lead us not into temptation.[d]' "
Right here Jesus did just that, he taught us how to pray. This week we will dive into different types of prayer and really break down what Jesus taught us. Just as in learning everything else, we need to look to Jesus and the Bible for how to pray.
Reflection Questions
1. How much is prayer a part of your day? Be specific and think about how often you pray each day/week/month.
2. Why do you or don’t you pray?
3. What questions to you have about prayer?
Take the Next Step
Identify your questions about prayer now. Literally write them down and search to work on them this week. Whether through the devos, posting some questions on the comment board, or talking to friends/pastors, may you truly learn to connect with God through prayer. As Archbishop Tait said “I want a life of greater, deeper, truer prayer,” and may we as well.
