Seeing God through Miracles
John 14 11-14
"11Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves. 12I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. 14You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it."
My personal interaction with miracles is two-part. While in YWAM (Youth With A Mission), I witnessed some pretty amazing circumstances. A few experiences entailed a terminally ill cancer victim being healed, thousands of dollars being donated in one night, and a variety of other miraculous events. In the scripture above, Jesus promises some pretty big stuff. Seeing first hand the awesome power of healing and provision is only a fraction of what a miracle looks like in our lives. The other part of miracles is the faith and acknowledgment in the day-to-day interaction with Jesus that sustains us. My progression as a man of God is the biggest miracle to my family and friends.
Reflection
1. Why do you think Jesus restates his promise of provision twice?
2. Where else in the Bible does Jesus promise us to do miraculous things in his name?
3. How does this scripture encourage or provoke you to ask of Jesus?
Take the Next Step (Get it “Next Step”)
After YWAM, many of my friends were very skeptical of the miracles I had been apart of. In what areas of your life do you need to see Jesus perform a miracle? Are you willing to have the faith to allow Jesus to do miraculous things in you life? I encourage you to keep a prayer journal and write down you prayer requests. I am blown away even today at how well the Lord answers prayer. Let’s all hold hands and sing “The Lord answers prayer”, JK.
