God is Everywhere

Jeremiah 23:23-24: “Am I a God who is only close at hand? Says the Lord. “No I am far away at the same time. Can anyone hide from me in a dark place? Am I not everywhere in the heavens and the earth?”

God can be seen everywhere. He is as much present on the interstate as He is in a church. That is why we can talk to Him anywhere, at anytime; there are no limits for God. He is in the simplest gesture of kindness, when people endure without complaint, Friday night at the Bar. God is in everyone, it reads in Matthew 25:40: “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for the least of my brothers, you did for me.” He is like the water in a sponge, there is no space where He is not.

Reflections

In Samuel 16:7 it says: “The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance but the Lord looks at the heart.” How does this expand our concept of: God is everywhere?

God is a spotlight that is on our hearts always. It is like having a camera on you all the time. How much different would you act if there were a real camera capturing your every move?

Can anyone hide from God? No. We try anyway…Adam did in Genesis 3:10: “I heard your voice and ran and hid.” Later it is written in Romans 10:10 “For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” When we are ready to stop hiding what does this say we should do?

Take the Next Step

“Watch your thoughts, for they become words.
Watch your words, for they become actions.
Watch your actions, for they become habits.
Watch your habits, for they become character.
Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.” – Anonymous
Do a little back tracking, changing the way you think is a daunting task. Most thoughts are automatic reactions. Start with your actions and your habits. Give a second thought to what you are doing…remember the spotlight is always on.
