No one has seen the Father
John 6:46
"No one has seen the Father accept the one who is from God; only he has seen the Father."
Sometimes is can be a frustrating journey to seek after God. We may get discouraged with the fact that we can not seem Him, that we can not touch or feel Him. Yet I have found in my life that I often ‘see’ God in the most humble and subtle ways. To Elijah he was in the “sound of a gentle blowing”. To many He appears in the form of “the least of these”. In John 4:7-9 Jesus says “he that has seen me has seen the Father.” Think of the many glorious works that Jesus does each day and remember that when we see Jesus we see the Father. Take heart in the knowledge that he who seeks shall find.
Reflection
1. What are several ways that you can see the Father in the Son? How do you see their characters working as one to bring to finish the plans for humanity?
2. Where are other places that you can see God? Do you see Him in your surroundings, in your community, in your church?
3. Do you think you have been blind to God? What are ways that God is trying to show Himself to you and what are you doing in response?
Take the Next Step
God is visible through the Father, and He can also be seen through many other small, humble ways! So often we get caught up in searching for God in the big and ‘honorable’ ways that we forge that He is among us in the humble and weak people right in our midst. Take time this week to intentionally seek God through Jesus Christ. Ask Jesus to open your eyes to the ways He is trying to show Himself to you and as you do keep in mind the poor, orphan and widow for God is so often among them.
