Bring Joy to the Father
Hebrews 12:7
"As you endure this divine discipline, remember that God is treating you as his own children. Who ever heard of a child who is never disciplined by its father?"
From this scripture passage we learn about how God’s discipline proves His love. I’m sure we have been disciplined by our earthly father and mother and we respected it. Shouldn’t we submit even more to our Heavenly Father? I know that the word discipline rarely has a positive connotation in our mind but it something important for us to become stronger. Look at the life of Solomon to explore his relationship with the Father.
Reflection
1. In what ways did Solomon bring joy to the Father (1 Kings 1:52-53; 3:6-9)
2. In what way did he bring sadness to God the Father (1 Kings 11:1-13)
3. Why is it “wise” to bring joy to the Father? What does bringing joy to the Father entail?
Take the Next Step
We are the children of God and it is a blessing when the Lord corrects you. Do not be discouraged when going through tuff times, press on and trust in the Lord. He knows what is best for you and when you live into his plan it brings great joy to Him.
